Launched in 2017, IDENTIFY magazine was the official biannual publication for the University of Missouri’s Inclusion, Diversity & Equity Department. As Department Graphic Designer, I was asked to art direct this publication. I began by brainstorming name ideas, creating a logo, and then brand identity for the magazine.

The idea for the name came from taking the department's initials, “IDE,” and capitalizing on the department's core—identity—by framing it as an action to take pride in rather than a static noun. From there, IDENTIFY was born.

After meetings with client stakeholders and the department chancellor, I worked closely with the Communications Department to maintain the University’s traditional aesthetic and color iconography while creating something fresh and sublime. The overall mission of the publication was to spotlight the achievements and contributions of the school’s underrepresented students, staff, and faculty.
